Building Skills

Working alongside families and youth has been something I’ve enjoyed for decades (am I really that old?!), and as I navigate through supporting more families, gaining counseling skills became more important too.

CRTI invited me to attend this training at no cost, to help build our skills to support the community. Over 2 days, we learned not only the theory, but practiced the action of listening and providing support to individuals.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to learn, and this training has allowed me to feel more confident in doing the work I am so fortunate to do.

Gaining skills and confidence to be an ally to my community by listening and helping family members get unstuck is important to me. We’ve all gotten stuck. Even you. Those in the caring role know best. Whether caregiving family or as our paid job, those who give the most can find ourselves in a position of exhaustion. We gave too much. And we can get stuck there.
