“Supporting Youth and Families with Unique Challenges. Celebrating Strength.”

This report has been created to serve as a tool that can be used to support individuals within multiple environments, inviting understanding and modification of the environment to increase success. This report emphasizes the unique challenges that neurodivergent individuals present, and how we, as carers/service providers, can adapt the environment to best support them along with behaviour management techniques. We also assess both children and adults, through a similar process. Billing is hourly, with an estimated 10-12 hours total.

What do I have to do?

  • Reach out to the Inspire team
  • A checklist will be sent to at least 3 main supports to fill out.
  • A meeting will take place between one of the Inspire team members.
  • Gather all past reports to provide to the team.

What type of information will I receive from the report?

This assessment is not for diagnosis. The report breaks down behaviour into different categories, offering support to increase wellbeing, including:

  • Variable Development
  • Behavioural Concerns
  • Attachment and Connection Need

What can I use this assessment for?

  • Advocacy with school or daycare
  • As a tool to use as a support
  • Supporting many service providers to get on the same page
  • Supporting co-parenting
  • Increasing understanding of the neurological differences
  • Helping the child or adult understand themselves
  • Adapting the environment

Before the assessment here is a few things needed:

  1. What are some favorite things? (toys, games, food, etc)
  2. What are some upsetting things?
  3. What are some calming things?
  4. What are some keywords often used? (ex: ox=box; ollie= favorite toy; maman=mom)

Documents needed:

  1. Please complete the checklist provided by the Inspire team member. Afterwards we will ask that you send it out to 2-3 important people in a support role.
  2. Reports from the school, doctor’s or any other reports/documents provided by an organisation supporting.
  3. CFS reports (if a child is in care or foster child) and consent/confirmation from the guardian agency.

Please provide all these documents before the meeting with an Inspire Clinician.

Assessment process:

  1. Once we confirm and have the necessary documents, we meet with the caregivers alone first, for 60- 90 minutes, either in person or via video software. This allows honesty without concern of the child hearing about themselves in a challenging light. Carers share strengths of the child and family, and pain points they experience.
  2. This is followed by a session with the child, allowing observation and understanding of the child’s behaviour, emotional language and sense of self.

After the assessment, what’s next?

Assessments take approximately 3-4 weeks to complete. It will be sent to you in draft form, so that edits can be made with your feedback. It will then be sent to you in PDF form, to distribute. A follow up session can be made to discuss it.
