Youth Mental Health Promotion Services

Working with and for youth to promote good mental health and encourage early intervention. Our Youth Mental Health Promotion Services include in-school workshops, half-day and special events.

It is important to have a youth focus for mental health promotion activities considering that over 70 per cent of adults living with a mental illness say the onset occurred before age 18, and stigma is the key barrier preventing people from seeking help.

CMHA works with organizations, schools, campuses, youth groups, and others with a focus on youth aged 12-24.

Services include presentations and workshops for community organizations, Self-Express To Beat Stress, and MILE 5 (Mental Illness Literacy Education), a five-day school-based stigma reduction program.

Building Futures

Youth aging out of care from Child and Family Services (CFS) have important adult decisions to make about where to live, how to get an education or job, and how to build healthy relationships. Building Futures supports young adults transition to adulthood.

School-based Youth Mental Health Promotion

CMHA Manitoba and Winnipeg offer two tiers of school-based youth mental health promotion programs: MILE 5 and Headstrong Anti-Stigma Summits. MILE 5 reduces stigma around mental health and mental illness and increases help-seeking behaviours in youth.
